The Michigan hockey team wins 5-4 against Michigan State
After the Game

With 18,146 college hockey   fans in attendance, the Michigan and Michigan State hockey teams gave it their all on the ice at Joe Louis Arena Saturday night. In a game of ups and downs for each team, Michigan pulled off the 5-4 victory, scoring with 2:08 remaining in the third period and then thwarted State's late 6 on 5 attempts to tie the game.

In a game that had two short-handed goals and one power play goal, Michigan took an early 3-0 lead through the first period only for Michigan State to fight back and score 4 unanswered goals (2 in the second and 2 in the third) to take the lead with 6:51 left in the third period. Michigan then scored with 4:48 left to tie the game. The Three-Stars of the game were Michigan's Chris Brown (First Star with the game-winning goal and an assist), Michigan's Matt Rust (Second Star with a short-handed game to tie the game late in the third and an assist), and Michigan State's Jeff Petry (Third Star with one goal and an assist). Michigan moves to 15-12-1 (10-9-1 CCHA) on the season and Michigan State moves to 17-9-4 (12-6-4 CCHA) on the season.
