 "Our guys just have to learn that there's penalties that you need to take and there's penalties that you don't need to take. When you're underneath their goal line and you trip someone, it's not an urgent penalty. You don't need to take that, you have to put your stick away and move your feet," - Doc DelCastillo as quoted in the Daily News-Miner.

- With a loss and tie over the weekend against Alaska Anchorage, the Nanooks are 3-3-3 in their last nine games. In that stretch the Nanooks have outscored their opponents 22-21, with an impressive 7-2 advantage in the first period.

- FR F Dustin Sather led the Nanooks over the weekend against UAA with a 1-2-3 performance. He tied JR F Adam Naglich and SO F Dion Knelsen for scor- ing against the Seawolves this season (each with 1-3-4 in four games). JR D Tyler Eckford outdid the trio who averaged a point-per-game against UAA to lead the Blue and Gold with 2-3-5.

- The Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup and in-state bragging rights will reside with Anchorage for at least one more year as the Nanooks fell 0-3-1 at the hands of the Seawolves for the second consecutive season. Although they lead the all-time Cup series 8-7, the Nanooks will have to wait another year to get a chance at relieving their archrivals of the Governor's Cup and snapping an 0-6-2 winless skid against UAA.

- For the first time since the Alaska joined the CCHA, it was unable to capture at least one win outside of conference play in its non-conference contests. All of the Nanooks' non-conference games this season cane against Alaska-Anchorage.
