 Miami has a more mature team than ours and we're learning to play with teams at that level. I thought it was one of the better weekends we've played at home in awhile. We could have won this game. We played better against Miami than we did last time. The young guys are figuring out what they can and can't do and the older guys are starting to settle in. I did think we did a better job today," - John Markell following the Ohio Hockey Classic.

- Ohio State advanced to the championship game of the Ohio Hockey Classic for the third-consecutive year and played for the tournament title for the fourth time (match-ups were predetermined the first year). The Buckeyes suffered their first OHC loss in the 2007 championship game, falling to Miami, 3-2 on a late goal. OSU is 7-1-2 in OHC play all-time, with both ties ending in shootout losses. - SR D Jason DeSantis and FR F Kyle Reed were named to the Ohio Hockey Classic All-Tournament team.

- SR F Tommy Goebel had points in each game of the Ohio Hockey Classic and now is on a six-game point streak. Goebel has 97 career points (22-22-44 at OSU, 21-32-53 at MSU).

- OSU is in the midst of a seven-game homestand, with six regular-season games and an exhibition vs. the U.S. National Under-18 Team. The squad will play just seven road games in the second part of the season, with 11 games in Value City Arena (12 with the exhibition).

- FR F John Albert has an assist in each of his last four games and is tied for second on the team with eight helpers this season. He is tied with classmate Peter Boyd (4-6-10) for the team point lead among rookies.
